REGISTER TO JOIN THE GFEM FUNDER DELEGATION BY JANUARY 28, 2008

FESTIVAL: APRIL 3 - 6, 2008

The GFEM funder delegation is an extraordinary opportunity to assess the current state of independent, art and social-issue documentary, see and hear how films have reflected and shaped our histories and, for those funders new to the field, gain a greater understanding of how to support it. (Registration information is listed below.)

With more than 100 films, panel discussions, seminars and Q & A sessions, the festival is an important arena for documentary film - an environment that stimulates conversation, fosters community and can lead to innovative grantmaking.

This year's special guests at the GFEM'S WELCOMING FUNDER DINNER include the INDEPENDENT FEATURE PROJECT and WORKING FILMS. You'll be able to informally talk with them and your peers about the "hows" of independent filmmaking-from inception to distribution through outreach and civic engagement-and find out about the different stages where funders have an opportunity to engage.

Every morning we gather for a CASUAL BREAKFAST - rated very helpful by all of last year's delegates. It's an opportunity to talk with your funding colleagues about the impact your media grantmaking has made, to learn from more experienced funders how you might be able to use film to forward your program goals, or just to chat about the enlightening, inspiring or provocative films you saw the day before.

GFEM IS HOLDING 25 ROOMS (scarce as hen's teeth) at the DURHAM MARRIOTT. This puts us, literally, in the center of the Festival. But they are only available TO YOU THROUGH GFEM and must be CLAIMED BY JANUARY 28TH.
